The SFA must break its silence
Lise Klaveness, President of the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF), has called on FIFA to urgently investigate Israel's violations of Palestinian rights and to consider sanctions against Israel.
Write to Mike Mulraney, President of the Scottish Football Association (SFA), urging them to end their shameful silence on this burning issue. In matters of genocide, institutional silence equals complicity. The SFA should articulate Scottish public opinion and endorse the Norwegian Football Federation position.
Israel's crime of genocide includes the killing of hundreds of Palestinian players and destruction of facilities. These crimes take place in the context of what the International Court of Justice (ICJ) calls South Africa's 'plausible' case of genocide against Israel. An October 10 UN report condemns Israel's 'extermination' of Palestinians using starvation, disease, destruction of health facilities and the exposure of families to freezing cold while living amidst the rubble of their homes.
SFA's shame is all the deeper in the light of the Norwegian call.
Write your letter, copying in the NFF, and ask that Mike Mulraney confirm that the SFA end its silence and publicly support the growing demand for an enquiry into Israel's brutality that violates every notion of human rights and multiple FIFA rules. You may amend the suggested letter template before you send.
